A Few College Recruiting Tips

List of recruiting tips for students and parents. *Please feel free to add tips. We encourage our community to help us a create a thorough athletic recruitment resource.*

  • Do NOT send entire game tapes to coaches unless requested. Instead send short highlight reels. Coaches are busy during the season and do not have time to watch entire games.

  • Get your name out there. Use services like VAD.

  • Know your ability.

Athletic Recruiting Timeline for Aspiring College Athletes

The following article is meant to serve as a basic guide and timeline for high school student athletes who wish to compete at the collegiate level. The info contained was created to guide parents and athletes through the basic necessary steps to compete for an athletic scholarship. It is not meant to be all encompassing. We recommend speaking with your school's counselors and Athletic Directors as they would be able to assist with items more specific to your situation.

College Recruiting Realities::Know your Abilities

The Reality Check

A crucial element of finding the right college athletic program is to be realistic about your talent level. Everyone dreams of growing up and playing for one of the big time Universities. The truth of the matter is that very few athletes have the God-given abilities to compete at this level. While hard work and persistence can get you far, at some point physical attributes set in. yeah that is true but this you have the tigers, and ohio state just lost the Championship Game for the 2nd year in a row. So i'm not saying we suck but we just cant win the "big" game.

Oh, haha, too bad you werent there when we got sweeped and embarassed by the Spurs, you would've enjoyed seeing that I'm sure. But that moment, u know just making it that far was HUGE for Cleveland, cuz we suck at everything else, so for the Browns being one of the only teams to finish a season at 10-6 and not make the playoffs, pretty much just killed us up here. and the inidans coming soo close too, even worse. So really, we just fall short EVERYTIME! hahahahaha. It's quite amusing, but then in another way quite depressing, for a Cleveland fan I mean.

but seriously that lineup is going to be a major powerhouse this season!!! but the Indians will beat them, on numerous occasions, ok no they prob wont, but i'm from Cleveland so I have to say that, i mean we have to have confidence in one team up here, the browns didnt make the playoffs and the cavs wont either, the indians are our only hope!!!
