Writing a Recruiting Letter Writing an effective recruiting letter
is much simpler than one would think. The same principles that
apply to writing a resume cover letter apply to an athletic
recruiting letter. For example;
• Keep the letter short, no need to write a novel. Keep with the
basics such as name, school, graduation year, why you want to play
at their school and so on.
• Do not send out a generic letter. Take the time to research the
school and most importantly a coach’s name. Show interest in their
school
• If you have the option, type the letter out, it looks more formal
and professional. Be sure to run spell check and look for
grammatical errors.
• Ask for more info. Most coaches will be happy to send you a media
guide or something similar.
